Which One is Better – Wakefit vs The Sleep Company Ortho Mattress?

In my search for the ideal mattress, I encountered the biggest problem: What’s the best choice for someone with severe back pain? That’s because my mother has back issues, not severe, but she suffers from it every now and then. I looked a lot at the options – spring mattress, a memory foam bed, or an orthopedic mattress. As someone who’s been through the maze of mattress choices, I came across two top-notch mattresses: the Wakefit Memory Foam and The Sleep Company Ortho Mattress. This was after going to several stores and several trials. If you are also looking for a good mattress, then these are among two top mattresses.

People who can buy these mattresses:

Having experienced both the Wakefit and Sleep Company Ortho mattresses, both of these are entirely distinct in their feel. The Wakefit mattress offers a medium-soft comfort level, while the Sleep Company mattress leans towards medium-firm, which I think is good for dealing with chronic back pain. On the flip side, the Wakefit mattress is right for those with regular back concerns.

If you are looking for a mattress as a couple, then both these mattresses excel in motion isolation, which means one partner’s restlessness won’t disrupt the other’s sleep. People who like to sleep on side edges will also be comfortable. I tried this at their showroom and worked perfectly. Also if you are like me who likes to work on a bed with a laptop, the Sleep Company mattress provides excellent support, whereas the Wakefit mattress might become less comfortable over longer periods. Moreover, if you’re on the heavier side, weighing more than 100 Kg, you’ll likely favor the Sleep Company beds, as it maintains its firmness and makes getting in and out of bed more comfortable.

People who should avoid these mattresses:

Based on my personal experience, I would advise against stomach sleepers selecting the Sleep Company Ortho mattress, as it tends to be on the medium-soft side, which can lead to discomfort in this sleeping position. Conversely, a medium-soft mattress like the Wakefit can be a better choice.

Another thing is that individuals dealing with acute back pain should steer clear of medium-soft mattresses like the Wakefit. Instead, they should opt for orthopedic options like the Sleep Company Ortho for better support. Similarly, if you’re on the heavier side, choosing the 8-inch or 10-inch mattress models over the smaller 6-inch ones can provide added comfort and support.

Durability:

From my experience, I can attest to the remarkable durability of both Wakefit and Sleep Company mattresses. These beds comfortably stand the test of time without any hint of needing a replacement.

Both the companies also offer 10-year warranty as compelling proof of these beds’ impressive durability.

Heat absorption:

I’ve found that memory foam mattresses tend to trap heat, which can lead to discomfort during the summer months. Even with air conditioning in the bedroom, these memory foam beds often absorb and radiate body heat, which can make body sweaty and sticky, which is very bad.

But the Sleep Company mattress has some sort of technology with thousands of air pockets, promoting efficient air circulation. I tried this and was left surprised because it didn’t cause sweating. This feature sets it apart for me and makes it a preferable choice compared to the Wakefit model. It definitely ensures a cooler and more comfortable sleep experience, even in summer.

Final verdict:

In terms of performance, my own experience has shown that the Sleep Company Ortho mattress stands out as the superior choice. It’s specially designed to address the needs of individuals dealing with acute spinal cord issues, and remarkably, it also provides comfort for those with regular back pain. On the other hand, Wakefit mattresses aren’t the top recommendation for orthopedic patients with severe back problems, although they do work well for individuals with milder backaches.

But when you consider pricing, the Wakefit model is the more budget-friendly option, particularly if you don’t have any specific back issues to address. So you can choose it too.

    1. I used to believe the same. In fact, my mother scolded me for buying a mattress for her. However, after trying them my mother has loved it. she is a conventional woman who doesn’t like to spend, but the impact it had on her back has made her forget about the money. And even if you don’t want to spend too much on a mattress, you can go for the cotton one.

  1. We belong to the generation that saw conventional mattresses being used and custom-made at the local shop. However, with amazing mattresses coming into the picture, we can definitely rely on these brands. In my opinion, both brands are pretty good with a marginal difference.

Some people strongly believe that traditional mattresses are great for back support, but we can’t deny how modern mattresses win in the comfort and looks department. After all, people have different criteria for deciding. Some look for features, while others settle for the budget-friendly option. To each their own!

  2. Personally, I find the comfort and aesthetics of modern mattresses hard to beat, even if some still vouch for the traditional ones’ back support. It’s all about individual preferences and priorities, right? What made you lean towards modern mattresses in your experience?
