Both MDH and Everest are popular spice brands in India. Sometimes, it’s not about the quality but your loyalty towards a brand that makes you choose it over others. For my family, Everest has been the go-to brand for all types of spices. We have tried other brands such as MDH, Bedekar, and Catch but always end up coming back to Everest. My mother has been using the brand for decades now and she is all praises for different spices offered by the brand.
Right from Garam Masala to Chana Masala, Chicken Masala to Pav bhaji Masala, and Sambhar Masala to Pain Puri masala, we have tried them all. Each variant is made with the choicest of ingredients, which makes the masalas flavorful. They add to the flavors of any recipe. And there’s a secret! You can add these spices to any of your veggies to add to the flavors and experiment with recipes.
Everest spices are affordable, which also makes them a preferred brand for us. The best thing about the brand is that they have been consistent with the quality and flavors over the years. It adds to their popularity.
Which spice brand have you tried? Do share your experience.
None of the above. We have tried all the above brands and never found one much better than others. Now we started buying Tata Sampann everything for a change.
I think Amazon, Big basket, Flipkart etc. get cheap quality whole spices and sell the powder under their own brand. Those products are way too bland in taste.
We once got turmeric powder made from whole turmeric pieces from my native place. When compared to packed turmeric from any brand, this original haldi powder was way stronger in aroma. We had to mix it with the packed turmeric powder because it would taste too authentic and we were not used to that 🙂
That’s true; the packaged spices we buy from the market lack authentic flavors and colors. But not everyone has access to pure and organic spices. I have never tried the local brands from Amazon, Flipkart, etc. I feel the Tata Sampann products are a little on the higher side, so never thought of trying their spices.
My mom likes to make Garam Masala herself, but yes when it comes to Pav Bhaji masala or Sambhar Masala, Everest is her go to choice. Even when I was living in Mumbai, I used to buy Everest Masalas only. I would also say that Catch Masala are also good but a bit expensive which is shocking. I don’t know why they kept their product expensive when competing with Everest and MDH. Strange, but their products are good as well.
Yes, Catch is a good brand, too. Though I haven’t tried their spices, I did buy Chaat Masala from Catch, and it was really good. We can’t say that other brands are not at par with Everest and MDH, but it has a lot to do with the popularity of the brands and how long they have been in the market. Most women identify with MDH and Everest and like to have them in their kitchens. Other brands might be doing well, but it can be tough to replace Everest and MDH.
