Why Amazon’s Presto Cleaners for Floor & Toilet Are a Great Deal Compared to Domex or Harpic

If you’re looking for reliable cleaning products for your home, you’ve probably come across brands like Domex and Harpic. While these are household names in India, I recently discovered that Amazon’s Presto range of cleaners is not only effective but also a much better deal, especially when it comes to price.

Price Comparison: Presto vs. Domex/Harpic – To be honest, one of the biggest reasons why I switched to Presto is the cost. For example, a 1-liter bottle of Presto Toilet Cleaner costs around ₹ 99, whereas Domex costs ₹ 186 and Harpic around ₹ 170, which are clearly priced higher for similar quantities. It makes Presto a more affordable option, especially if you’re buying cleaning supplies regularly and I think most people do. And with Amazon’s subscribe & save, you can get 2-liter of Amazon Presto cleaner at the price of 1 liter Harpic.

If you want to stock up, which I usually do at least 4 bottles, then Amazon’s upcoming Great Indian Festival is a great time. I think it is starting on 27th September 2024, you can also grab Presto products in bundles at even lower prices. The bundles often include a mix of bathroom, floor, and toilet cleaners, or individual product bundles giving you a comprehensive solution for your household cleaning needs at a discounted rate.

I have been ordering Presto’s cleaners since last Diwali and it’s not just price, they are just as effective as their more popular counterparts. The bathroom cleaner works well on tough stains and soap scum, leaving surfaces looking clean and shiny. The toilet cleaner is strong enough to remove hard water stains and other marks, giving Harpic some solid competition, which I used to use before.

The floor cleaner from Presto also comes with a pleasant, mild fragrance that doesn’t overpower the senses, which is a bonus compared to some of the stronger-smelling alternatives like Domex.

Final Thoughts: If you are looking to save money without compromising on quality, I would definitely recommend trying out Presto cleaners for your bathroom, floor, and toilet. And with the upcoming Great Indian Festival on Amazon, it’s the perfect time to stock up at a discount.

Have any of you tried Presto products before? How do you think they compare to brands like Harpic and Domex?

  1. I always assumed Harpic and Domex were the gold standard for toilet and bathroom cleaning, so it’s surprising to hear that Presto is just as effective. But I have a question how is the consistency of the liquid? One thing I like about Harpic is its thick formula, which clings to the toilet bowl and doesn’t just run down. Does Presto have a similar texture, or is it more watery? Also, do you think Presto is as good for deep cleaning, or is it more suited for regular maintenance? Sometimes I need something really strong for weekly deep cleaning, but for daily use, a mild cleaner works fine. Would you say Presto can handle both? Lastly, since you’ve stocked up on Presto during sales, have you tried any of their other household cleaning products, like dishwashing liquid or glass cleaner? Wondering if they follow the same affordability-meets-quality trend!

    1. Presto’s toilet cleaner has a decent consistency—not as thick as Harpic but not too watery either. It stays on the surface long enough to work, but if you’re used to the very thick formula of Harpic, you might notice a slight difference. That said, it still clings better than some generic brands I’ve tried. For deep cleaning, I’d say Presto works well, but if you’re dealing with a really stubborn mess, you might want to let it sit for a while or use a scrubbing brush to boost effectiveness. It’s definitely strong enough for regular maintenance, though. I use it for both, and it hasn’t disappointed me yet! I actually have tried their dishwashing liquid, and it’s quite good for the price! It’s not as thick as premium brands like Vim, but it does the job well and has a nice lemony scent. I haven’t tried their glass cleaner yet, but now that you mention it, I might grab it and see how it compares!

  2. This is an interesting comparison, and I’m tempted to try Presto now! But one thing I wonder about is the long-term effectiveness. Sometimes, cheaper alternatives work well initially but don’t maintain the same cleaning power over time. Have you noticed any changes in Presto’s quality since you started using it last Diwali? Also, how does it handle really tough stains like limescale buildup in toilets? Some Harpic variants (like the 10x formula) claim to be extra strong for those issues—do you think Presto is on par with that? Also, I’m curious about the fragrances. You mentioned that Presto’s floor cleaner has a milder scent—how about the toilet and bathroom cleaners? Some people prefer strong-smelling cleaners because they give that “freshly cleaned” feel, while others prefer something subtle. What’s your take on this?

    1. Since I’ve been using Presto for almost a year now, I can say that its effectiveness has remained consistent. I haven’t noticed any drop in cleaning power over time, which was one of my concerns as well. When it comes to tough stains like limescale, I’d say Presto works well, but I won’t claim it’s stronger than something like Harpic 10x. If your toilet has heavy limescale buildup, you might need to leave it on longer or do a second application. That being said, for regular cleaning, it does the job efficiently. Regarding fragrances, Presto’s toilet cleaner has a fresh scent but isn’t as overpowering as Harpic. The bathroom cleaner has a neutral, slightly citrus-like smell, which I prefer over strong chemical odors. If you like mild fragrances that don’t linger too long, Presto would be a good choice. But if you associate strong scents with a sense of cleanliness, you might miss that aspect.

  3. I always thought cheap cleaners won’t cut it but 99 bucks for 1L is wild even local store brands near me charge more and they smell like detergent factories do u think presto stuff is safe on tiles over time like some cleaners dull the shine or leave buildup also how long does 1L last for u if ur cleaning toilets regularly

    1. The ₹99 price definitely caught my eye too it makes a strong case for switching. In terms of safety on tiles, I have not had any issues with dullness or residue from Presto so far. I use it on both glazed and matte bathroom tiles, and they’ve held their shine over time. Some floor cleaners tend to leave behind a film or get sticky if not diluted properly, but Presto seems well-balanced and rinses clean. As for how long a 1-liter bottle lasts it depends on usage, but for me, cleaning one or two toilets a day, a bottle usually lasts 3–4 weeks. If you go with the 2-liter pack during sale season, you are pretty much sorted for a couple of months without restocking.
