OnePlus 40-inch TV Review After 6 Months Use

Let me take you through my personal journey of purchasing the OnePlus TV and using it for the past six months. It’s been quite a ride, especially when compared to my previous experiences with Kodak and LG TVs. It all started with my trusty Kodak 40-inch TV. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from it, given its price point. It did the job, provided a decent viewing experience, and I had no major complaints. But, as the saying goes, curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to explore other options in the TV market.

Next up I bought was the LG UQ7500, which I got for a family member. The first thing that struck me was its design – it looked sleek and stylish. However, my excitement quickly faded when I began using it. The operating system was a nightmare. It was laggy, slow, and frustrating to navigate. I couldn’t help but think that a TV should provide a seamless experience, and this one was far from it.

Now, onto my latest addition, the OnePlus TV. First things first, it’s a looker. OnePlus is known for its sleek and modern designs, and this TV lives up to that reputation. It’s aesthetically pleasing and fits seamlessly into my living room setup. But what truly sets OnePlus apart is its speed, and this TV is no exception. OnePlus is renowned for the swift operation of its devices, and this TV is a testament to that reputation. The user experience is incredibly smooth, and it’s lightning fast when it comes to web browsing and opening apps. The remote control is a thing of beauty itself – it’s intuitive and ergonomic, making navigation a breeze.

Not so great Display:

However, I must admit there’s one aspect where the OnePlus TV falls short – display quality. In comparison to my LG TV and surprisingly, even my Kodak TV, it doesn’t quite measure up. The picture quality, the very essence of a television, is not as impressive as I had hoped. It’s not terrible by any means, but when you’ve experienced better, it’s hard not to notice the difference.

Installation Issue:

One significant letdown was the installation process and I didn’t expect it. Unfortunately, the installation technician didn’t meet my expectations. In fact, during the installation, the product ended up getting damaged, which was incredibly frustrating. Since a replacement wasn’t available, I had no choice but to request a return. This whole ordeal cost me a good seven days of time and effort. The initial delivery took around 2-3 days, and then the installation added another 2 days to the timeline. I found myself on the phone with Amazon customer care for an additional 2-3 days, all to eventually return the product. It was a hassle I hadn’t anticipated, leading me to explore and ultimately purchase another TV from a nearby shop.

After using all three TVs extensively, I’ve come to a conclusion that I feel compelled to share with those considering a TV purchase. While features like speed and user experience matter, the primary purpose of a TV is to display pictures and videos. It’s about the visual quality that captivates us as we watch our favorite shows and movies. In this regard, I have to say that the Kodak TV surprised me the most. Despite its budget-friendly price, it offered a picture quality that was on par with, and in some instances, even better than the more expensive LG and OnePlus TVs. The colors were vibrant, and the images were sharp. So, when you’re in the market for a new TV, consider what matters most to you. If you prioritize speed, user experience, and design, the OnePlus TV is an excellent choice. But if it’s picture and video quality that truly matters to you, you might find better options out there, and surprisingly, Kodak might be one of them.

Final thoughts:

Ultimately, the decision is yours to make. As for me, I’ve learned that while a TV’s features are important, it’s the picture quality that truly defines the viewing experience. Choose wisely, and may your TV bring you endless hours of entertainment.

  1. Just want to say Kodak tv was a good decision when I was buying the first flat tv for my parents. It was covid lockdown time and I was also staying in my native village.
I was looking for the cheapest led or lcd tv to use and keep in the village home. During Dussehra sale the cheapest one on offer was Kodak tv. I think it was cheap because Kodak tv was newly launching in market.
My friends told all parts are same in different brands. Just brand name is different. So I ordered Kodak tv. Then on delivery and installation the tv was found faulty. I was scared and repented my choice. But there was only replacement no return option. So we got the replacement tv and that was fine on installation. Now I am glad to say the tv is really good quality and running very well for 3 years now.
My advice is go for the cheapest. There is not a lot of difference in quality.

    1. I mean cheapest option isn’t best always because service matters as well. If I bought a TV and don’t get good service during an issue, then it is of no use. I always prefer to pay more for good service.

  2. Just to add a point here. We have spent double the amount to get Sony Bravia. Then it needed repair after 5 years. Spent again half the tv cost.

I think we could have purchased oneplus or another china brand at that half price. Who cares much about quality when we rarely get time to watch tv !!

    1. Sony TV’s are great but as you said repair Cost is too much. I think you should have avoided the repair and got a new one. These days we get TV and other electronics item for cheap because there are so many brands to choose from. But I also believe that if you spending high on any electronics tv, fridge, washing machine, then it is better to get a good brand rather than the Chinese.

  3. My experience with Samsung LED TVs has been exceptionally good. Though I have had televisions from LG and Sony as well, Samsung devices have an edge. In fact, the installation and repair services are also satisfactory. Their customer-care department is quite responsive and comes with timely resolutions for any issue. The display and picture quality of Samsung TVs are worthy. The price of Samsung TVs is at par with its counterparts hence, with excellent features, it is a great choice.

    1. That’s great. I have heard and seen praises of Samsung TVs as well. my uncle owns one and he has had great return on his investment. It is well known fact that Samsung has one of the best displays in the world and I think they have better prices than Sony TVs for similar features which makes them good in premium segment. I think people who want to make long run investment in a good TV, then Samsung should be their priority other than Sony.
