Living in a humid city, I’m constantly in search of lightweight body lotions that can keep my dry skin hydrated without causing me to feel like I’m melting in the heat. That’s why when I came across an advertisement for the Vaseline Sun Protect & Calming SPF 30 Body Serum Lotion on Instagram, I knew I had to give it a try. Vaseline is a known company so I wasn’t worried about the brand. What caught my attention was that it’s available in both SPF 30 and SPF 15 spray versions, along with a Bright & Calming Body Serum Spray option, making it quite versatile for different skincare needs. So overall I was pretty impressed just by looking at the ad.
It is priced at Rs. 449 for 180ml, which is decent for a good body lotion.
Packaging:
It comes in a sturdy cylindrical plastic bottle with a white pump. I purchased mine from Nykaa, and it arrived securely sealed with cello tape around the pump and packaged in perforated paper wrapping, which ensured it didn’t leak during transit. The cap is also robust, making it suitable for travel, which is a definite plus. Dispensing the product is generally smooth, although I did find that during the initial use, I needed to press the pump nearly ten times before the Vaseline body serum lotion started coming out. The bottle contains 180ml of product, and given how much I’ve enjoyed using it, I’m hoping the brand considers introducing larger sizes like 300 or 400ml in the future. It would be great to have more of this fantastic serum lotion on hand!
Texture and Fragrance:
It has a texture that’s quite reminiscent of lightweight lotion. When you apply it and blend it in, you’ll notice a refreshing cooling sensation. What’s impressive is how quickly it gets absorbed into the skin. It doesn’t have a runny consistency; instead, it stays precisely where you apply it.
As for the fragrance, it’s on the lighter side and leaves a pleasant scent when you first put it on. However, after about 2 hours, I couldn’t detect the fragrance anymore. It’s not overpowering, just that classic Vaseline body lotion fragrance that’s subtle and enjoyable.
Final thoughts:
In my experience, it’s incredibly lightweight and imparts a delightful cooling sensation, making it an ideal choice for combating the heat and humidity. What’s impressive is how it nourishes the skin without leaving any unsightly white cast. With its SPF 30 PA++ protection, it’s certainly effective, but it’s essential not to stay under the sun for extended periods. While it’s undeniably effective, it’s worth noting that this serum lotion is a bit pricier compared to their other body lotions. However, if you come across a discount of 15-20%, I’d recommend going ahead and making the purchase. The serum lotion absorbs swiftly and dries down to a semi-matte finish, offering hydration that’s perfect for summers. In colder or drier seasons like winters, an additional layer of moisturization may be necessary.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you have irritated skin or any cuts on your body, it’s best to avoid using this lotion, as it may cause a stinging sensation due to the presence of essential oils. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for a body sunscreen with SPF 30 PA++.
It is so good to finally have a body lotion with SPF to have a protective layer on your skin when you step out in the sun. It saves you from the hassle of layering your skin with sunblock after the application of moisturizer. Thank you for sharing your valuable experience. I am definitely going to try the Vaseline Sun Protect body lotion soon.
Yeah, I read that you prefer body lotion instead of oil on my other post. I think this one will suit you perfectly. the best thing about it is the SPF protection. So no need to spend twice on Sun Screen and Body Lotion separately.
Vaseline is a renowned brand. So, it is the best choice if you are looking for a moisturizer for the dry winters. Also, you do not have to use a sunscreen lotion, as this lotion acts both as a sunscreen lotion and a moisturizer.
