My dad has been traveling a lot for work lately, and his old trolley suitcases have really started to show signs of wear and tear. With his frequent trips sometimes domestic, sometimes international I am thinking it is time to invest in some new, durable luggage for him. I am looking for medium and large sized trolley suitcases, something that’s reliable, easy to carry around, and able to withstand the rigors of frequent travel. I have been doing some research and I have come across a few brands that are known for their luggage, but I’m unsure which one would be the best fit for his needs. Some of the brands I am considering are:
Samsonite: Known for its durability and high quality. Samsonite is a popular choice among frequent travelers, but I have heard they can be a bit on the pricier side. Given that this would be a long-term investment, I wouldn’t mind spending a bit more if the product lasts for years. Has anyone used Samsonite suitcases? Do they hold up well with constant use? And are they worth the higher price tag?
American Tourister: This brand is often recommended as a more budget-friendly alternative to Samsonite. It offers a good range of sizes and styles, but I’m wondering if the quality and durability are comparable. I’ve heard mixed reviews about their trolleys being less sturdy for heavier travel. How do they compare in terms of functionality and long-term use?
VIP: VIP is a well-known brand in India and has been around for a while. They offer a range of suitcases, some of which are pretty affordable. But I’m unsure about their durability. Does anyone have experience with VIP luggage for frequent travel? Does it provide good value for money?
Delsey: I’ve also come across Delsey luggage, which seems to have a good reputation for being lightweight and easy to maneuver, especially with the spinner wheels. Their designs also seem to be more sleek and modern, but I’m not sure how they hold up for someone who travels as frequently as my dad.
Safari: I’ve noticed a few deals on Safari suitcases as well, and they seem to be in a similar price range to American Tourister. The question is, are they a good option for someone who needs something durable yet lightweight? Would they withstand the strain of regular flights, or is there another brand that’s better?
Since my dad needs something both lightweight and durable, preferably with a hard shell for better protection, I’m trying to find the best balance between quality, price, and durability. If you’ve traveled frequently and have experience with any of these brands or others I haven’t mentioned please share your thoughts. Would love some recommendations.
A few years ago, I was in a similar situation when my dad, who frequently traveled for business, needed a sturdy yet lightweight trolley suitcase. After a lot of research and comparing different brands, we ended up going with Samsonite, and I have to say it has been worth every penny. My dad has been using it for over three years now, and despite constant domestic and international travel, it has held up incredibly well. The wheels are smooth even after extensive airport runs, the hard shell has barely any dents, and the zippers still function perfectly. It is definitely on the pricier side, but if your dad travels as often as mine, it is a great long-term investment. Before settling on Samsonite, we had also considered American Tourister, but after looking at a few pieces in person, we found that they felt slightly less sturdy, especially for frequent use. They are great for occasional travelers, but I wasn’t sure they would survive constant flights. Delsey was another brand we looked at, and I was quite impressed with its sleek design and lightweight structure. It seemed like a fantastic mid-range option, though I can’t personally vouch for its long-term durability. One thing to consider is the type of travel your dad does. If he needs something ultra-lightweight for quick trips, Delsey might be a good fit. If he prioritizes durability above all else, Samsonite is a no-brainer. If budget is a concern but you still want reliability, VIP or Safari could be worth exploring, though I’d recommend checking out the build quality in person before purchasing. Hope this helps, and good luck finding the perfect suitcase for your dad!
Thanks for sharing your experience! It is helpful to hear firsthand how Samsonite has held up over the years, especially with frequent travel. I was leaning toward it because of its reputation for durability, and your feedback tells me that it is a solid long-term investment. The fact that the wheels and zippers are still functioning well after years of use is definitely a big plus. I have had local buys for luggages and the zipper quality is always bad, sometimes, we can get good quality bag material, but zippers always go bad. Also great that you told about American Tourister. I had a feeling it might not be the best fit for constant travel, and since my dad flies frequently, I would rather get something that can truly withstand the wear and tear. Delsey was also a choice that I drifted towards because of its lightweight design, but if durability is even slightly in question, I may need to reconsider. I will check out Samsonite in person and compare it with Delsey to get a better idea. Also, did your dad go for a hard-shell model, or would you recommend a soft-shell one instead? Since I am looking for something that offers good protection, I was leaning towards hard shell, but I would love to hear your thoughts on that too!
