My mom has been a daily green tea drinker for quite some time now, but lately, she has gotten bored with her usual Lipton Green Tea. She drinks at least one cup every day, so I thought it would be a good idea to try something new and bring some variety to her routine. I have been looking into Organic India and Tetley as possible alternatives, but I am unsure which brand offers the best flavor and overall quality for green tea.
Here is what I am thinking:
Organic India is known for its organic and herbal teas, which seem to have a very pure and natural flavor. Their Tulsi Green Tea seems to be quite popular for its health benefits and unique flavor profile due to the addition of tulsi (holy basil). It is also caffeine-free, which could be a great option for mom in the evenings when she’s looking to unwind without the caffeine hit. But I wonder if the taste of tulsi might overpower the green tea itself. Has anyone tried it? Does it still taste like traditional green tea or does the tulsi make it feel more like a herbal blend?
On the other hand, Tetley is a well known and trusted brand, especially for its wide range of teas. They offer flavored green tea variants like Lemon & Honey or Mint, which might be a fun twist compared to the plain green tea she is used to. Tetley is also known for its smooth taste, and their green teas are said to have a refreshing yet light flavor. But I have also read that some green teas can have a slightly bitter aftertaste, and I am not sure if Tetley’s options avoid that. Does anyone know if their flavored green teas strike a good balance between taste and the natural bitterness of green tea?
Both brands seem to offer different experiences Organic India with its focus on organic ingredients and added herbs like tulsi for wellness, and Tetley with its range of traditional and flavored green teas that might offer a refreshing change for mom.
I want to get her something that’s flavorful but still retains the health benefits of green tea. Has anyone tried either of these brands? Which one would you recommend based on flavor and quality? Are there other brands I should consider that have a reputation for great green tea? Would love to hear your thoughts!
I was in a similar situation with my dad he’s been drinking green tea for years, but he got tired of the same old taste. I decided to explore different brands and ended up trying both Organic India and Tetley, so I can definitely share my experience. Organic India’s Tulsi Green Tea is great if your mom enjoys herbal flavors. The tulsi gives it a mild, earthy taste with a slightly sweet undertone, but it does make the tea feel more like an herbal infusion rather than classic green tea. My dad liked it at first, but over time, he missed the stronger green tea taste. If your mom enjoys a calming, soothing tea, this would be a good pick, especially for evening relaxation. Plus, the organic factor is a bonus for health-conscious drinkers. Tetley, on the other hand, offers more of a traditional green tea experience but with fun flavor twists. Their Lemon & Honey and Mint variants are refreshing, and I didn’t find them overly bitter. The flavors blend well without overpowering the green tea itself. If your mom enjoys a little variety but still wants that classic green tea base, Tetley might be a better choice. If she’s open to other brands, you might also want to check out Twinings or Typhoo. Twinings has some nice, smooth green teas with subtle flavors, and Typhoo is another great option, especially their Moroccan Mint. Does your mom prefer plain green tea or would she be open to experimenting with flavors? That might help narrow down the best option for her!
It seems like Tetley might be the better choice since my mom still enjoys the classic green tea taste but could use some variety. I might look into the Lemon & Honey and Mint flavors. I will also check out Twinings and Typhoo as you suggested. Appreciate the recommendations!
