True wireless bluetooth earbuds for office calls?

I wanted to know if the bluetooth earbuds are good for office calls? I have never used one and now badly need to have some wireless solution for my office calls. The wired earphones are a mess with the baby around. Please suggest from experience.

I see a lot of brands and models. So very confused. All I need is good microphone and call quality for the people listening to me. I dont want very good quality in the speakers or the sound I hear.

  1. Sorry to disappoint you. The wireless earbuds will always have inferior call quality with the mic far away from the mouth. Noise cancellation feature actually makes your voice sound weird, robotic, on the other end. Earbuds are convenient to listen to calls and talk ocasionally in a quiet environment. Have you considered the ones that have a neckband?

      1. Jabra brand bluetooth headsets are much better in quality. Obviously costlier than the Plantronics ones you suggested. Both these companies specialize in call quality and you can blindly pick one based on your budget.
For Jabra, the product line is “Jabra talk” series.

    1. Yes I think I faced some similar issue. Soundcore earbuds with noise cancellation was too bad for calls. Many times people on other end said they can’t hear my voice. I tried realme buds and they worked fine. I think noise cancellation in soundcore buds were removing my own voice thinking it is noise 8)

      1. I suggest you test them out multiple times in different scenarios. I too had similar opinion on Soundcore life note TWS earbuds. On the first day they were so problematic I was almost sure to return the set. But later on I realized how the earbuds were behaving with respect to the direction of voice and noise, environmental noise etc.
Though these earbuds are not great and can never be compared with wired earphones, they do the job well for office calls and normal phone calls. Much better than what I have heard from a couple of Chinese brands.

  2. I can say some thumb rules:
Most reviews are by people who just listen to music while in gym. Dont read those reviews.
Cheap earbuds will have cheap mic. And they would not have spent money to give you latest technology.

For any earbud, you will see some people saying good and some saying bad latency. Latency depends on things like AptX support. Look for Aptx Low Latency support in both the earpods and the phone or other devices.

  3. Not sure of office calls, the earbuds are waste for normal calls. Most of the time volume is not sufficient. You need to open the earplug and talk into it for a good volume. Still good to hear others voice. Is that what you mean?

  4. Almost all earbuds will have slightly robotic voice due to compression of sound for minimizing data transfer. Noise reduction makes it worse. Even Apple airpods have the same problem. So, it’s not just a problem with low price earbuds.

    1. I noticed the robotic voice problem is also related to the phone’s processing. Voice becomes robotic from time to time even when I’m near my phone and there’s very good wifi network available.

  5. No matter what, earbuds never stay put in the ear. I had the same experience with Apple Airpods pro and with others with soft tips as well. Bought and not able to use any.

  6. I tried soundcore and they are great. I can confirm they feel more professional for work, compared with Chinese brands. You will not regret as far as office calls are concerned.
For funky business, go with whatever latest being advertised on Amazon or Flipkart. They are good enough.
