Paid 5 Star ratings on Amazon for cashback

Recently very cheap tactics are used by many sellers on Amazon where they ask for 5 star ratings and offer cashback. I was surprised to see similar cards inside packets where it says to give a 5star feedback and share the screenshot on Whatsapp for cashback. It is very difficult to find genuine feedbacks on amazon now. Here are list of products where I have seen such fraudulent attempt to get 5-star reviews:

  1. These days almost everyone is asking for a 5* review on Amazon Flipkart. You can not trust the reviews anymore. I went to a shop for some baby products and they also made me write a google feedback while in the store.

  2. It is so cheap that people are falling for the trick and sharing review screen shots on Whatsapp for a cashback of Rs 10-100.

  3. Guys it is very frustrating to see 5* ratings against cashback from seller. There is no place to find trusworthy feedback any more.

  4. Now it is a big business to provide fake users, fake likes, subscribes, reviews etc. There are many small companies doimg only this. I have been getting a lot of spam on whatsapp regarding earning by posting fake reviews and likes.

  5. Unfortunately true. So do extensive research and believe at your own risk.
It’s funny though to see one or two genuine folks writing about the seller’s offer of cashback against 5 star reviews. You need to scroll through a lot of reviews to detect some genuine ones like that. I often look at 4-star or less ratings in the hope to find some genuine comments.

I hope we should be able to build a database or list of sellers/products where this type of offer is found in the shipped packet. Thoughts?

  6. I completely understand your frustration with the questionable tactics employed by some sellers on Amazon. I have worked with some food and beverage brand. What happens is they send products for free to some influencers. And ask them to write positive reviews. It’s often disheartening to witness the lengths to which they go to secure those coveted 5-star ratings. In my own experience as an Amazon shopper, I’ve encountered similar tactics but this is what goes in the background.
Another sneaky ploy I came across was finding identical cards tucked inside product packages. These cards shamelessly urged customers to leave a 5-star review and then share a screenshot on WhatsApp in exchange for a cashback offer. I think Amazon has been trying to counter this but I don’t think it is working. This is also because the companies are trying to hide reviews from customers that are angry for no reason. I often don’t blame the companies. When they try to offer a replacement but the customer is just angry and wants to write a negative review, companies resort to the paid reviews.

  7. It’s annoying to see sellers trying to fetch some fake reviews in return for some petty cashback. It gets difficult to trust the ratings and reviews while making the buying decision I guess going through several reviews can help in identifying fake reviews from the real ones.
