Air ticket prices are too high!

Hi friends, did you notice that air ticket prices have been too high after the covid lockdowns? I am telling about some Indigo flights that were usually Rs 3000 approx, is now 7000-8000. Also, it is the same price even if you check prices 3-4 months in advance. What is happening :O

  1. The ultra cheap tickets may never come back. Still i think ticket prices have come down from the crazy highs after covid19.

  2. With Air India back in business, Indigo and others will have a run for their money. Price war will start as soon as Air India gets more flights and cover all domestic routes.

  3. Airfare has come down a bit recently. Agree the Air India effect is there. Still it is hard to see ultra cheap tickets. The route that had 1800-2500 cheap tickets for a 2 hour journey is now around 4500. Still it is better than what it was last year.

  4. Price War? Not happening. Have you seen the price for tickets 2,3,4,5 months into the future? Everything is too pricey. Gone are the days for the general public to fly. Now jobs are less. Income is low and air travel is again considered a luxury.

High time we started thinking about conservation, green living and alternative careers. I actually forgot that company name that promoted “travel less” to reduce carbon footprint.

  5. Those air ticket prices have gone through the roof post-COVID lockdowns especially traveling from Tier 3 to Tier 1 cities. I used to go from Delhi to Indore in just Rs. 2500 – 3000 but now almost 4000-5000 rupees everytime. It’s better to take First AC in train. they are more comfortable and affordable.

  6. The flight ticket prices have skyrocketed after the Pandemic. They have almost doubled for a few cities. Although booking tickets in advance can help in saving a little money, the prices can vary for the same ticket for the same location on different dates. It is because of the dynamic pricing strategy adopted by airlines where they change the prices based on the demand and what other airlines are charging.

    1. That’s a good callout. Not many people realize of the dynamic pricing and tend to buy in FOMO. The popular notion that flight ticket will be costlier as you get closer to the travel date – is not always true. If you see a steep hike in the ticket price for no reason (no festivities or demand) then check back later. This may be a temporary spike. Price may fall.

  7. Yes, that’s true. One must keep checking the prices as there might be a temporary rise in the prices. I have also seen prices high on some dates and lower on others. It’s a common phenomenon.

  8. Price War has started to some extent. After 2 years, I can see prices falling to 4000 Rupees level which was the pre-Covid level. Thanks to Akasa Air and now Air Asia + Air India. Prices are falling and Indigo feels insecure too. I am waiting for Indigo fares to fall soon for a couple of bookings in Jan-Feb 🙂

  9. That’s right, Akasa has changed the game and made the competition tough. But the prices haven’t reduced for all locations. From Ahmedabad, if I check flights for Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi, it’s easy to find affordable options. But they are not the same for several other cities. I think the prices also depend on the connectivity of flights between the two cities.

    1. Akasa Air is not that great as far as I have checked for our travel. Very limited flights and non flexible fares. Indigo prices have been affordable all the time. This may be just me.
