I used to work in a natural sweetener manufacturing company and I was always excited to try out new creations. When our company was looking to create a tea blend of their own, we used to order different samples from different brands. Once our founder ordered a few sampler packs of Teabox Teas and I was able to try some of those. If you don’t know, Teabox is one of the oldest exotic tea brands of India. I think they were the first where I saw purple, white and rose teas. I was pretty stoked to try the teas because I haven’t tried any exotic or even flavored teas before. I am a simple Wagh Bakri and Brooke Bond guy, I drink them for my daily use and I am pretty happy with it. But if you like to try exotic or flavored tea, then Teabox is a good place to start. Not all the teas are good but I definitely loved some. Here’s my review of different teas that I tried.
My thoughts on Teabox Darjeeling Spring Chinary Black:
For a delightful tea experience that never fails to satisfy, I highly recommend giving Teabox Darjeeling Spring Chinary Black a try. These tea leaves are meticulously handcrafted and handpicked as claimed by the company from Darjeeling region.
When I first brewed the tea, I saw a golden hue and it offered a medium-bodied infusion enriched with hints of tangy mangosteen and the subtle sweetness of dried figs. I personally enjoyed this tea alongside a plate of crispy fritters, a cheese-based salad. After two tries, I achieved the perfect brew. I first steep the tea for around 5 minutes in water. I added a dash of lemon, sugar, if you don’t take sugar, go for honey. I tried it once and it enhanced my experience. I must say that this tea stands splendidly on its own, offering a taste that’s truly exceptional.
Experience with Teabox Classic Assam Black:
As I like classic teas so I had high expectations of this. I have to say that this one has truly won my heart. Its flavor profile is pretty darn good and it is enriched with subtle notes of yellow raisins and date palms. Just like regular tea, it creates a dark amber brew that’s both delicately sweet and satisfying.
This is perfect if you want to take it black or with milk. It tastes brilliant with both and the flavor is not overpowering. However, I must admit, enjoying it in its pure form, piping hot and steeped for 5 minutes.
The Classic Assam Black is undoubtedly one of Teabox’s best teas. It also has a generous caffeine kick if you like strong teas like myself. It’s perfect for jump starting my mornings. It’s a personal favorite.
Experience with Teabox Woodland Green:
My experience with this tea was quite distinct. It has a robust tobacco aroma that had a hint of smokiness, which made me excited for a unique tasting journey. Upon taking a sip, the flavor was predominantly tobacco, and I was surprised that it left a pleasant dry aftertaste on my palate. i steeped the tea for three minutes. I took a cautious sip before deciding it wasn’t for me and poured it out. Among the three teas I sampled that I have told you about, this one ranked as my least favorite. Firstly, I drink green tea once at my work everyday, so I had high hopes from this but it was really not great. Despite liking the aftertaste, I don’t like the overall taste and mouthfeel of this one. Personally, I found this tea rather unappealing. While the infusion was tolerable because the tobacco taste didn’t linger excessively, I found the overall aroma somewhat one-dimensional. So not a good experience.
Teabox Rajasik Ayurvedic Chai Review:
My personal encounter with Teabox Chai Tea was okayish. Not good, not bad. It is a blend of ingredients like black tea, black pepper, ginger, holy basil, cardamom, clove, and licorice. Like Wagh Bakri And Red Label Natural Care, this aims to provide an immune system boost and a delightful caffeine kick. But I really didn’t enjoy it because there were too many flavors. The aftertaste was good again but it isn’t refreshing like Assam Tea. Teabox suggests enjoying this invigorating brew hot in the morning, either on its own or with milk. I tried both but it wasn’t satisfactory. While it doesn’t contain caffeine levels as high as the Assam tea, it still boasts a moderate caffeine content, so if you don’t like much caffeine, then you will like this. I like high caffeine teas personally.
Final thoughts:
Having explored Teabox’s tea offerings, I must admit that I have some reservations about their quality of some teas. I find myself inclined to savor one of Teabox’s Indian flavors rather than green tea. Although Indian green teas haven’t been my preferred choice historically, I must say that Teabox’s offerings differ significantly from what I’ve encountered before. So I would suggest you to try Indian black teas from Teabox and not green because the others that I tried but couldn’t mention here because they have discontinued those flavors were not good either. Assam Black Tea is definitely the best tea that they offered so you can definitely buy that and if you like Tata Tea Premium or Wagh Bakri or Red Label (Without Flavors), then you will like it too.
