I Tried 5 Different Teas From Tea Trunk and Here’s What I feel

Premium teas have become popular in our country and I am a sucker for them. I just love trying out new teas and especially ones that I haven’t tasted before. I have experienced Tea Box’s tea flavors and also Tata’s 1858 premium teas. So after seeing so many ads of Tea Trunk and their cute tin packaging prompted me to buy some flavors. I will share my review of all of them.

Chamomile Rose Herb Tea:

So first off all, this is a herbal blend, not exactly a tea. It offers a wonderfully soothing aroma, with a medium to strong yet pleasantly floral fragrance. It has zero caffeine so you can consume it at any time. I particularly enjoyed it before bedtime as it offers a soothing and relaxing experience.

I ordered a sampler that can yield around 5-7 cups, depending on cup size and desired flavor intensity. According to the website, all their tea variants, including this one, can be rebrewed. I’ve tried rebrewing it after approximately 1 hour, and the taste remains quite good. Containing dried rose petals and chamomile, it’s known to aid digestion and promote better sleep.

Apple Spice Black Tea:

This is undeniably my favorite among the bunch, perhaps due to its high caffeine content and a striking resemblance to authentic tea. This tea blend is an ideal companion during the winter months and has proven effective in alleviating stress and fatigue. Each ingredient contributes to boosting immunity and acts as a powerful antioxidant.

It comprises Assam Black tea, Vanilla, Cinnamon, star anise, cloves, ginger, apple, orange peel, and cherry bits. The blend offers a delightful mix of spicy and fruity flavors.

Mango Mint Green Tea:

I picked the Mango Mint Green Tea because the previous one had a sweet fragrance and taste. I was looking for something with a tangy tropical flavor, so I decided to explore this variant. The fragrance is absolutely amazing! The moment I opened the packet, a burst of aroma hit me. It’s a delightful blend of mango, a touch of mint, and hints of orange peel, making it so unique and refreshing. The best part is that it doesn’t feel artificial at all. It’s as if you’ve picked fresh mangoes, mint, and oranges from the garden and brewed some green tea.

When it comes to the flavor, I noticed that mint takes the lead, followed by the green tea, resulting in an overall green tea taste. I was expecting a stronger burst of mango flavor. It’s present, but not as dominant. It’s like taking a sip and sensing a bit of mango, then noticing the mint, followed by a touch of orange.

Rose Oolong Tea:

As soon as I opened the package, the sight of those dried rose petals immediately gave it an exotic touch, and the fragrance was beyond comparison. It wasn’t that artificial rose aroma; it was reminiscent of the scent of desi roses. When I brewed a cup and took that first sip, oh my, the aroma was divine! I can’t say much about other benefits, but the aromatherapy effect was incredible. The mildly sweet scent of rose paired with the essence of green tea was both relaxing and blissful. No additives were necessary; it was just the pure delight of Rose Oolong Tea.

This tea contains a moderate level of caffeine, so it’s not advisable before bedtime. According to the website, it’s best enjoyed after meals, like in the afternoon or early evening. It complements light pastries, pancakes, and crepes wonderfully. I tried it with banana pancakes, and the combination was delightful. I preferred it plain, just the exquisite taste of Rose Oolong Tea.

Blue Pea Green Tea:

Upon opening the package, the fragrance was mild and delicate, not at all overpowering. With its low caffeine content, you can enjoy it at any time of the day. I usually prefer a strongly caffeinated drink in the morning with my breakfast, and when I tried this one, I found it to be less caffeinated. After an hour, I found myself making my usual tea. I’d recommend having it in the afternoon or late evening instead.

I personally enjoy this tea both as a hot and cold beverage. While I typically prefer it hot, I’m planning to explore making liquor infusions, cocktails, and iced tea with it to see how it fares in different forms. I’ll definitely share more about that later. With ingredients like orange peel, blue pea flower, and green tea, it carries a citrusy taste. I usually avoid adding lemon juice to it because that can overpower the natural citrusy taste. When I skip the lemon juice, the balance of flavors is perfect. You can distinctly taste the citrusy orange note, a refreshing touch of blue pea, and most importantly, the subtle presence of green tea, which I particularly enjoy. This tea is also rich in antioxidants and is beneficial for digestion, detoxification, beauty enhancement, and acts as a brain booster. Blue pea, a key ingredient in this tea, has been used in Ayurvedic Medicine. It’s known to reduce blood pressure and possesses anti-anxiety, anti-asthmatic, and pain-relieving properties.

Final thoughts:

Well, I hope you find this review helpful. For a regular Indian chai drinker, Apple Spice is the best. My least favorite is Mango Mint Tea because of its excessive mint tasting notes, but if you prefer mint, you will definitely enjoy drinking that. Blue Pea Green Tea is definitely great. I will share a comment on how it fairs with cocktails. Till then, happy tea shopping.

  1. I have never heard of these tea variants and I am pleasantly surprised as well as excited to try them. Apart from Green tea, I have only tried Chamomile tea and loved the unique flavor. Apple spice black tea sounds interesting and I am looking forward to trying it. I will share my experience with the tea soon.

    1. Apple Spice Tea is something that black tea or regular chai lovers will like. Other varieties are also quite flavourful, so you may try them too. You can also order sampler pack from their website. So if you don’t like something you won’t be disappointed.
