Big Basket v/s Swiggy Instamart- Which app sells fruits and veggies at economical rates?

I use both Big Basket and Swiggy Instamart for ordering my monthly essentials. I often order fruits and vegetables also from there. In my experience, Big Basket is affordable app for fruits and vegetables than Swiggy Instamart. The prices of fruit at Swiggy are marginally high. The apples that I bought for INR 100 a kg at Big Basket were available for almost double the price on Swiggy Instamart. The same applies for custard apple, chickoo, and banana. Even Avocado is expensive on Swiggy Instamart. After seeing the difference in the prices, I have started ordering fruits only from Big Basket. As such there is no issue with the quality as well. During summer season, I has ordered Mangoes at economical prices from BB.

For vegetables, both apps are fairly good. The prices of vegetables are competitive. When I compared, the prices were almost the same. But from quality viewpoint, Swiggy Instamart vegetables were more fresh. I prefer Swiggy Instamart ordering my weekly stick of fresh vegetables. I also felt that the vegetables are packed well at Swiggy. When you order for INR 399, you get free delivery.

What is your experience with Big Basket and Swiggy Instamart for fruits and veggies?

  1. Haha. You got it right. Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and other quick commerce companies thrive just because some customers want urgent delivery. The extra we are paying is due to that urgency.

Big Basket also has a similar service BB Now. Are you talking about that. BB Now delivery charges are nil after a certain amount. And the prices are not absurd, unlike Swiggy and Zepto. However, I also realized the benefits from serivces like Swiggy Instamart etc. We have ordered many last-minute things from both of these.

  2. Yes, BB Now is the quick delivery service from Big Basket, which is similar to Swiggy Instamart. But Swiggy is quicker than BB Now, at least here at my location. It takes hardly 15 minutes for the orders to get delivered with Instamart, while almost 25-40 minutes from BB Now. And I agree these apps benefit by charging more due to our sense of emergency. We want immediate deliveries and somehow readily pay a surplus for that!

  3. I mentioned in one of my Reviews for Swiggy Instamart that they are pretty good at packaging and delivering fast in my area. I think they are doing a pretty good job at fruits and vegetables deliveries just because of their swiftness. I haven’t used BB Now so can’t comment on that.
