My review and experience with best Mayo brands in India

Mayonnaise is one of the favourites in Indian kitchens. We love to have mayo with chips, nachos, sandwiches, wraps and what not. We have a few good brands here in India that offer a variety of mayo flavours. I have tried four brands, and here’s my review of the same.

a. Dr. Oatkar

This is the first brand of mayonnaise that I started using almost 7-8 years ago. I used to buy the basic plain white mayo initially, but then I started trying other flavours as well. Their barbeque-flavored mayo was hands-down my favorite. It was full of flavours and a perfect layering for sandwiches and wraps. It adds spiciness to even bland food items. The consistency and texture of the mayo was amazing. It is a cost-effective mayonnaise brand and a must-have in your kitchen. It is available in bottle and pouch as well, which is a travel-friendly option.

b. Veeba

Veeba was the second brand that I tried for mayonnaise, and instantly feel in love with it. I find its texture extra creamy and smooth, which adds richness to your dishes. For sandwiches, Veeba mayo is one of the best choices. You can explore different flavors in this brand as well.

c. Hellmann’s

It is an American company known for its authentic mayonnaise. When it was launched in India 2-3 years ago, I was excited to grab my hands on the same. Since then, I have been using Hellmann’s mayo only! Its texture is incredibly smooth and it tastes simply amazing. I always have a bottle of Hellmann’s mayo in my kitchen. I use it for sandwiches, wraps and rolls, and even with burgers. It adds creamy texture to every food item, which makes it succulent. The brand is well-known for its high-quality ingredients, and the taste reflects the same. The price is a little high as compared to other brands but it’s completely worth paying that extra penny!

d. Wingreens

I came across this amazing mayo brand while looking for sauces and condiments on Bigbasket. I ended up ordering the Chipotle mayonnaise and it was one of the best flavorful mayos I have tried to date. The mayo is so delectable and creamy that I can’t resist having it with nachos and even plain potato chips. The flavours explore in your mouth and you keep wanting for more! The best part is that it is an affordable brand.

Verdict

While earlier it was Dr. Oatkar’s mayo for me, now, it’s Hellmann’s! And when I want to try the chipotle flavour, I go for Wingreens.

If you are looking for that perfect mayo, here’s are a few tips that will help you find the right one:

a. Look for the ingredient list. There should not be too many additives and preservatives. The simpler, the better.

b. Look for the type of mayonnaise in terms of flavours and specific dietary preferences such as gluten-free, vegan, etc.

c. You can choose from a thick to smoother consistency.

d. Lastly, look for the preferred type of packaging and expiry date of the mayo.
