Hi everyone, have you realized there is a difference in product quality for the same products purchased online (amazon, flipkart etc.) and offline from local stores or supermarkets? I have realized that over past few years.
- Baby diapers quality is very different online vs offline.
- MRP printed in many products is different
- Many mosquito repellents often are weak and do not work when purchased online
- Similarly many creams and shampoos appear to be of lower quality and very watery, different in scent etc.
All of the above is when we purchased items from wellknown sellers. So they are not fakes. But packaged differently for online sale and discounts. Anyone agrees?
I think packaging size is sometimes different for online vs offline. Some detergents or groceries have 2kg packs made only for online sale. I have bad experience with diapers bought from Dmart. Same product purchased online was better.
Dmart material is always good quality for us. Online orders sometimes delivered bad damaged goods. I think we can not decide from this. It varies from person to person.
Offline stores are here to stay, for a purpose. Quality.
Online-only products are known to be inferior than their offline counterparts. SO, unless it is the exact same product, it is safer to get it from offline stores. Retailers like Amazon, Flipkart etc. have special arrangement with manufacturers and their production batches are usually different from offline retailers batches. Raw materials and workmanship might differ as well.
Metro is cheaper, but you have to buy big packs. I feel it is same quality products packed in different sizes for different stores.
I completely understand your concerns about the varying product quality between online and offline purchases, and it’s true that there can be differences. However, I’d like to offer a different perspective based on my own experiences. Yes, there have been instances where I received a product that didn’t meet my expectations when shopping online, but it’s important to note that this can happen in offline shopping as well. For instance, I once bought a household item, a vacuum cleaner, from a local store. I assumed that by physically inspecting the product, I was ensuring its quality. However, after a few uses, it started malfunctioning. When I contacted the store, they were reluctant to provide any assistance. In contrast, when I later purchased the same vacuum cleaner online, I had access to a lot of customer reviews and ratings. This allowed me to make an informed decision based on the experiences of other buyers. The online retailer also had a robust return policy, which gave me peace of mind. As a result, I received a high-quality vacuum cleaner that worked flawlessly online.
So it’s true that some products may vary in quality when purchased online, it’s important to acknowledge that online shopping offers benefits too. After a lot of online shopping I have learned that the key to online shopping is to research thoroughly, read reviews, and choose good sellers to lower the risk of receiving subpar products. So there are challenges, but online shopping still has its advantages.
Your concern is genuine but it largely depends on the product we buy and the brand. Personally, I have not had any such major or noticeable experiences. Also, when it comes to both online and offline shopping, the chances of poor quality or services are commonly heard of. In this time and age of the internet, online shopping has become inevitable.
I buy a lot of stuff online, from clothes and footwear to groceries and other essentials. I am quite happy with the quality. Many times, we find products online at a better deal. I feel it would be unfair to think that all online products are poor quality. Buying from reputed portals and brand after thorough research is the key to a successful online shopping experience.
