Is there a good place to buy Toor Pulse online at decent rates?

Hello all, I have been looking to buy Toor Dal online for my family as I live away and I want to send it to them. However, there are several price issues and a lot of them are very expensive. Can you suggest good brands and websites from where I can buy the dal? I would be very thankful. Thank you in advance.

  1. What is the location? Toor dal prices have gone up right now. We usually get Tata Sampann Toor Dal and price is crazy high right now. Usually Amazon grocery sells this cheap. Else try Flipkart Grocery or Big Basket. Surprisingly the product is sold cheaper in local markets outside cities.
Alternatively, you can try toor dal of the private brand from the grocery website or app. Quality is similar. We have tried from BB Royal and Amazon Vedaka.

    1. Yes, I also used to Tata Toor Dal buy from Amazon but the prices currently are very high. I will try some private brands as you suggested may be they have good. Will order in small quantity to check first.

      1. We often purchased unpolished toor dal from local shops when not in the city. The dal in local shops is almost the same quality as the branded packs. Polished toor dal was always a bad experience. The oily coating and smell most of the time. I think polished dal takes much longer to cook.

        1. Yeah, polished toor dal is bad. Not healthy at all and don’t taste good either. I also prefer buying unpolished as they are definitely not processed excessively.

    1. Actually, it is good. And I have tried it before as well. But the prices of the brand are getting very high. They are selling at around 200 Rs/kg, which is a lot. Some other brands are selling it for 150-170/kg range. Thanks for the suggestion though.

  2. Tata Sampann toor dal may be cheaper on Flipkart. I think flipkart grocery sells a 2kg pack. That was not available anywhere else. But price is different every day.

    1. I wouldn’t say that it is 100 rupees cheaper. The price of toor dal is increasing day by day and I am getting worried. In last month alone, price of toor dal has increased around 50 Rs in local store. I think I will need to look at India Mart and buy a big bag of toor dal at once for whole year and wholesale price because I don’t think the price of dal is going to go down anytime soon.

  3. We have been ordering our groceries online since the Pandemic. The Tuvar Dal prices have always been on the higher side online. Be it Big Basket, Swiggy Instamart, or Blink It, the Dal prices were high as compared to local shops. Hence, we get our Tuvar Dal supply from the nearby Kirana store. We stay in Ahmedabad, and the Angur brand is quite popular amongst the locals. There’s a difference of at least INR 100 for 5kg Dal when we buy from the local shop.

Tata Sampann is also a good brand for Tuvar Dal. You might find some economical variants sold by Big Basket under their brand name BB Royal, Super Saver, and BB Popular.

    1. I was looking at JIO Mart and they deliver affordable and lower priced Toor Dal. The surprising thing is that every month 10-15 rupees are increasing in toor dal’s prices and I have been very surprised why government is not doing anything. It is the most commonly used dal still the prices are so high.
