Has Anyone Tried Audiobooks on Audible India?

I have been thinking about switching to audiobooks for a while now. Between work, family commitments, and commuting, I don’t get as much time to sit down with a book as I used to. Recently, I have been considering Audible India, especially since I have heard a lot about its audiobook collection. However, I am not entirely sure if it’s worth the investment for Indian users. From what I have gathered, Audible India offers a pretty extensive collection of audiobooks, including many titles by Indian authors. They have also added regional language audiobooks, which is something I’m really interested in. It’s tempting because I’ve always loved reading but now feel like audiobooks might be the perfect solution to get back into reading without needing to find the time to sit down with a physical book.

What I’m Curious About:

1. Subscription Pricing: Audible India’s subscription starts at ₹199 per month after a 30-day free trial. This gives you one credit, which can be redeemed for any audiobook, regardless of its price. But is the cost justified for Indian users, especially since many books are cheaper to purchase outright or available on other platforms for less?

2. Book Collection: How is the collection, especially when it comes to Indian authors and regional content? I’ve seen popular books by Amish Tripathi and Arundhati Roy listed, but I would love to know if the Indian catalogue is growing and diverse enough to make a subscription worthwhile.

3. Narration Quality: I am a bit particular about narration, sometimes, a good book can be ruined by a bad narrator. How are the Indian accents and pronunciations in the audiobooks, especially for local or regional content?

Is Audible India worth it? If anyone you have you tried it, please let me know! And if you have suggestions for other platforms, I’m all ears. Thanks!

  1. I am also curious about audio books now that I realized there is a free trial. For Amazon Prime members, there are two credits in the free trial. I am not sure what that means. I will definitely try one book tonight.

    1. I will have to check the vouchers. Someone told me that Google Pay also gives vouchers for Audible for 3 months free. I might snatch one of those. 3 months is decent time to judge the platform. If you are also looking to buy, then you can give it a shot too.

    1. I think you get them when you make payment. The orange coupon appears and it gives you five offers to select from. I think there you will get an option of three months audible. If not, you can get the offer in blue coupon code in rewards sections of Gpay too. Try it out. If you are not making payments using Gpay, then do it for like 10-15 days, you will definitely get that.
