Exchange Old Furniture Online

Does Flipkart or other platforms exchange old furniture when buying new ones? Just like phone and laptop exchange offers. I did not find any such offer in Flipkart or Amazon. How can I dispose the old furniture when buying new?

  1. Offline stores like HomeCenter and HomeTown etc do have exchange feature. In my place in Bangalore almost any local furniture shop will be interested to buy used furniture if it is solid wood. They do minimal repairs and sell as new.
PepperFry has a furniture exchange program where they actually buy the furniture from you and give their store credit.

  2. How will the company know the wood quality of your furniture? I think it is not practical for anyone to guarantee exchange price online without seeing the furniture.

    1. I think they do share the price but when their furniture pickup guys show up they make different excuse and reduce the price. I think it’s better to sell things like furniture in local market. I have seen a lot of Facebook listings but not sure how they work.

  3. There is a lot of rejection in exchange process of Flipkart. At least whoever I spoke to had faced same problem. Exchange is offered and calculated online. But their guys reject the pickup citing minor absurd reasons.

Even if they agree for a price online, I will not trust them. Better sell it off to local shops or via quickr, facebook marketplace etc.

    1. That’s true and especially when it comes to any sort of product. Even when I was selling my phone, they gave me a high prize and when the person came, he started pointing out very small things that like little scratches and everything, which made the price of the product very less and then I decided against selling the phone to them. I also think that it is better to keep these things in local market because at least in local market you will get the right price and there won’t be miscommunication happening.

  4. I prefer to sell it off on Facebook groups. Find second-hand items groups for your locality and it works faster. Price is also good compared to Flipkart exchange price.

    1. Oh interesting, I have seen a lot of listings of Facebook marketplace and groups. But how do you trust when selling or buying? I mean, it is tough to know the person. And how do you exchange the items. I am pretty sure that no one would pay the price of product beforehand nor will you send the product before getting the money. So how does that work when you sell on Facebook groups? I am just curious because I once tried selling my speaker on Facebook and it didn’t work at all. The speaker was of good company and I wasn’t getting the right price in local market so I decided to go with Facebook, but I wasn’t able to agree on terms with the buyers usually because of payment.

  5. My local carpenter was the right person to take my old furniture. The quality of the wood impressed him I suppose so the give and take was very smooth.

  6. There are different groups on Facebook where you can post about your old furniture. I am sure you will find genuine buyers interested in buying it at a discounted price. Look for such groups for your city. There is a group called ‘Put Me In Touch’ for connecting people in Abad and nearby locations. You might find any such similar group for your location.
