Thought of sharing some obvious things regarding the packaged water bottles – Bisleri, Aquafina, Kinley etc.
These are RO water and some times with “Added Minerals”.
Bisleri contains about 100 PPM TDS (Total Dissolved Salts)
Aquafina contains almost none (zero)
Kinley had about 80 PPM
To compare, your home municipality water would be around 200 PPM TDS. You can easily check that with a TDS meter.
Technically they are not “Mineral Water” bottles. The costlier ones you find from Aava, Vedica, Evian etc are mineral water which are from natural springs and not passed though RO filtering process. So, they contain a lot of salt content. TDS is as high as 500 PPM
So, next time, ask for water bottle and not MINERAL water – if you mean the standard packaged water. Savvy?

Just go to Amazon or Fliplart or any online shop and you will find good tds meters for less than 200 bucks. Most use a coin cell CR2032 which you will easily find in local watch/laptop repair shops.

I once found myself comparing those packaged water bottles too. It’s surprising how the TDS levels can vary. I didn’t know that about Bisleri, Aquafina, and but knew about Kinley before.
Sadly, we can’t always carry our water bottles from home and have to rely on these so-called ‘mineral’ water bottles. I wish companies were more responsible with what they pack inside the bottle or at least avoid tall claims and offer clear information so that buyers can make an informed decision. Also, many consumers are not even aware of these technical terms which helps these companies fool the innocent and ignorant buyers.
