My sister was diagnosed with lactose intolerance a few months ago, and it’s been a challenge to find good dairy-free alternatives in our local stores. She’s tried almond milk, soy milk, and a few lactose-free products, but now that she’s embracing this lifestyle, we’re looking for more variety. Since it’s hard to find a lot of these products in our nearby supermarkets, I was wondering if there are any good online stores in India where we can get a reliable range of dairy-free items.
I’ve seen some options on Amazon, but the variety isn’t always great, and the prices fluctuate a lot. Is there anyone here who regularly buys dairy-free products online? Almond milk, oat milk, dairy-free butter, or vegan cheeses—we’re looking for a mix of these, along with other everyday essentials like curd and yogurts.
What I’ve Tried So Far:
- Amazon: They do have some dairy-free products, but as I mentioned, the availability and price consistency can be an issue. For instance, we’ve found good almond milk and vegan butters here, but sometimes they’re out of stock or the prices shoot up randomly. Has anyone else had similar issues?
- Urban Platter: I’ve come across Urban Platter, which seems to offer a wide variety of vegan and dairy-free items. Has anyone ordered from them before? How’s the quality of their products? I’m particularly curious about their range of dairy-free cheeses and spreads.
- Big Basket: I noticed that Big Basket has been adding more lactose-free and vegan products recently. My sister tried their So Good Almond Milk, which she liked, but we haven’t explored much else. How does Big Basket compare in terms of variety and availability for dairy-free products?
Are There Any Hidden Gems?
Are there any smaller, more specialized online stores that you guys trust for dairy-free products? I came across Goodness! Beverages and Alt Co, but I’m unsure how reliable they are for regular purchases. Has anyone bought from them, and do they deliver consistently? I’m also curious about whether they have a decent shelf life since I’d rather stock up if I find a brand that works well.
What About Deliveries and Freshness?
Another concern is freshness and delivery times. Since some of these products, like plant-based milk and yogurt, are perishable, how do these online stores handle delivery? Do they arrive fresh and in good condition? I wouldn’t want to risk ordering and then receiving spoiled items.
Does anyone have good recommendations for trusted online stores that deliver high-quality dairy-free products in India? If you’ve been buying regularly for yourself or someone who’s lactose intolerant, I would love to hear about your experience. What stores do you trust, and which products would you recommend for someone looking to switch to a completely dairy-free lifestyle?
I am not sure about much Go Dairy Free, Vegan Dukan, and Alt Co, might be a good place for you to start. They have some really good products, they deliver at home and with longer shelf lives.
I am looking at Alt Co for quite some time, thanks for sharing that their products are good. I haven’t seen Vegan Dukan or Go Dairy Free, I will browse their selections as well.
After some trial and error, I have found a few reliable ones that I personally use and can recommend:
Urban Platter: This is hands down my go-to for all things dairy-free. They have got a wide range of plant based products like almond milk, coconut cream, vegan cheese, and even butter alternatives. I ordered their oat milk and some cashew cheese, and both were amazing in terms of taste and quality. The delivery is pretty quick, and the packaging is super secure.
Amazon (Specialty Sections): I know Amazon isn’t exactly a “specialty store,” but they do have a decent selection of plant based brands like So Good, Raw Pressery, and Epigamia. I have ordered almond milk and dairy-free yogurts from here when I was in a pinch, and the convenience of next-day delivery really helps.
Goodmylk: This is a smaller brand focused entirely on plant-based products. I have tried their oat milk and dairy-free yogurt, and I loved the fresh, homemade vibe of their stuff. Their customer service is also super responsive if you have any issues.
BigBasket: While this is more of a general grocery store, their selection of dairy-free items has improved a lot. I regularly buy So Good almond milk and Epigamia coconut yogurt from them. The delivery is reliable, and you can often find good deals.
Vegan Dukan: If you are looking for a platform exclusively for vegan products, Vegan Dukan is fantastic. I’ve ordered their dairy-free cheese and nut-based spreads, and they’ve been really impressive. Their variety is great for someone exploring plant-based options, and their pricing is reasonable for the quality they offer.
I loved Urban Platter, because its range is unbeatable. If you are just starting out, I would suggest exploring a mix of these based on availability in your area. Hope this helps!
