Are Hair Styling Products from Set Wet or Gatsby Safe for Daily Use?

I am thinking about trying out some hair styling products for a while now, especially since I have seen a lot of people using gels or waxes to keep their hair looking sleek throughout the day. Two popular brands I have come across are Set Wet and Gatsby, but before I dive in, I am concerned about something that I am sure many of you have also thought about

My Concerns About Hair Styling Products

I have always been a little hesitant when it comes to using products like gels, waxes, or sprays regularly because I have heard stories about hair loss, thinning, and even damage over time. I have slightly thin hair already, and the last thing I want is for it to get worse because of products I’m using daily. I’m looking for something that won’t mess with my scalp health or cause long-term issues.

Do Set Wet and Gatsby Cause Hair Damage?

I have heard mixed opinions about Set Wet and Gatsby. Some people say they are perfect for getting that sleek, styled look without much fuss. But others have mentioned that using these products daily, especially without proper hair care, could lead to dryness, breakage, or even hair fall. Does anyone here have experience with this?

Here’s What I Want To Know:

Do products like Set Wet and Gatsby cause hair thinning over time? I have read that constant use of products containing alcohol or strong chemicals can cause scalp irritation and lead to hair loss. Is this true for these brands? Can they damage hair texture? I have seen some people talk about how using styling gels or waxes every day leaves their hair feeling rough or brittle after washing. Has anyone experienced this with Set Wet or Gatsby? Are there gentler alternatives? If these brands aren’t suitable for daily use, what other products can I use that offer styling benefits without risking damage? How do you maintain hair health while using these products? For those of you who use Set Wet or Gatsby regularly, what’s your hair care routine?

For now, I am leaning towards trying something lightweight, maybe a product that isn’t as harsh but still provides hold. But, before making any decisions, I would love to hear from anyone who has experience with Set Wet or Gatsby for daily styling. Would really appreciate any recommendations for safer daily-use styling products that still give good results without the worry of long-term harm.

  1. I’ve used Gatsby wax for a while now, and I haven’t noticed any hair thinning or damage, but I make sure to wash my hair thoroughly to avoid buildup. I don’t use it daily, maybe 3-4 times a week, and I follow up with conditioner. Set Wet works similarly, but I would also recommend occasional use and deep conditioning. For gentler options, you might want to try styling creams or light gels.

    1. I think I will follow your advice and try using the product less frequently and follow up with conditioner. I also have to keep an eye out for gentler alternatives like styling creams and gels. Appreciate the tips!
