Some people wonder if hair masks are necessary or conditioners are enough for hair care. Hair masks are definitely better than Conditioners. Years ago, we would only use conditioners after shampooing hair for making them smooth and detangled. Our hair extra nourishment and care and it is here that Hair Masks can work magic.
What makes Hair Masks better than Conditioners?
Conditioners are used after every hair wash which means you use them almost 2-3 times a week. But Hair Masks are meant to be used only once a week, like a therapy or pampering session for your hair. Conditioner doesn’t have a thick consistency like Hair Masks. We leave the Conditioner only for 3-5 minutes before rinsing the hair, while Hair Mask is to be kept for at least 30-40 minutes before rinsing. Experts also suggest covering the head with a hot towel after applying the Hair Mask for better results.
Conditioners are quite economical as compared to Hair Masks. Most of the shampoo brands have their own Conditioner as well. But Hair Masks are sold by fewer brands such as Loreal, Schwarzkopf, Dove, and Plum, to name a few. There are home-grown and herbal brands as well that sell Hair Masks for treating dry and damaged hair. I have tried different Hair Masks from Loreal, such as Liss Ultime, X-tenso, and Lipidium. They worked beautifully for my hair and helped me control dryness and frizz.
Hair masks are comparatively expensive, but they last longer as you apply them once or twice a week. I feel Hair Masks are a must for the hair care routine. It is like a superfood that hair needs from time to time. Applying a Hair Mask once a week can be your personal hair spa session at home.
