So, I have been seeing a lot of Amazon’s own products in grocery and daily essential sections. Like they have Hand wash, kitchen napkins and a lot of other household cleaning items. I don’t trust reviews in their case because it is an Amazon-owned brand so they can be seeded. Have anyone of you used it before? What has been your experience? The thing that attracted me towards it is the pricing. They are definitely decently priced. Whether it is detergent powder or toilet cleaners. If they are good, then I would definitely buy them. So please share your reviews.
Solimo and Amazon Basics both sell good enough products. In fact, based on rumours, it seems Amazon has teams analyzing top selling products on their platform and then they try to reach out to same or similar manufacturers and get slightly better products made at competitive price point.
So while it is good for customers, it seems a bit unethical that they learn from sellers on their own platform and then release competing product to damage those sellers business.
I’ve heard similar things about Amazon’s approach. It’s true that they seem to use data from their platform to offer products at competitive prices. I think from a customer’s point of view, it is a great thing because we can get good deals on products at relatively lower prices especially if they perform well against their competitors. And I also understand you point about them being unethical but c’mon we all know that most of these big companies are unethical in their approach to working. We can’t do much about it. It is a complex issue with both pros and cons. I hope they do things at least a bit fairly to make sure the marketplace is for everyone to sell.
It is a shame that companies like Amazon are copying good products and making cheap copies of it. Then they stop selling the good products on their platform and force you to buy their own brand products.
Today I noticed Amazon secretly stopped selling Lijjat Papad and instead of that selling a lot of copies under their own Vedaka brand. They have copied almost all varieties of Lijjat Papad. Punjabi Masala, Moong, Plain, everything. I think I have to leave Amazon Grocery now.
I understand your frustration, but I’d like to offer a different perspective. As a long-time Amazon customer, I’ve found that Amazon’s approach of offering their own branded products can actually benefit consumers in several ways. Firstly, it can lead to increased competition. When Amazon creates their own versions of popular products, it often drives down prices for consumers. I have highlighted the same in my Amazon vs Kirana Store article. I’ve tried some of their Vedaka products, and while they may resemble other brands, they can offer great value for the price. This means we can get similar quality at a lower cost. Lastly, I think Amazon usually provides a wide range of choices, including both their private label and other brands. This variety allows consumers like me to make informed decisions based on our budget and preferences.
Oh yes, I can swear by how amazing the Solimo products are! Since 2020, I have been buying various products from Solimo and they never fail to amaze me. I have tried their face masks (the COVID mask), body scrub, and bedsheets, to name a few. The products are a good buy as they are affordable yet long-lasting. I am really satisfied with the quality. I would certainly recommend the brand to everyone. Amazon has done a great job with Solimo.
Thanks for your input. I ordered a lot of Solimo products during the Diwali Sale and I haven’t been disappointed. They really are good considering their price. They are also reducing the monopoly of some other brands in the different categories so it is definitely nice to see.
