So, I think a lot of you might have seen clips of Facebook or Instagram where they show a food wrapper sealing machine which packs the once opened packaging with just a swipe. I was tempted to buy it because in rainy season most of namkeens or biscuits and similar snacks get soggy. So, I went on looking online and found one product, E-Basket Electric Heat Sealer, which was being sold for just Rs. 299. It had around 3.8 stars rating, so I decided to buy one in hopes that it will help me seal snacks and chip bags with ease.
The weirdest thing when the package arrived at my home was it had a small sticker on it which said ‘A Hair Straightener.’ I was confused as hell. Yes, in pictures, it looked like a hair straightener, but I didn’t expect the tag explicitly saying so. I was puzzled but I went ahead and the experience of holding it was pretty decent but it didn’t work at all.
This was the first time when I bought a certain product and it didn’t do its job even 10%. I tried sealing chips bag, namkeen, and whatnot, but nothing worked. Only one thin bag of popcorn got sealed and that also after 3 minutes of holding it in sealing position. Firstly, I thought I was doing it wrong, but then I read the instructions that came with it, and even after trying that way, nothing worked at all. I really felt cheated because even if it worked for a day and stopped working, then at least I would’ve known that product is fine, but the piece I got was faulty. Despite creating heat, nothing worked.
I now think most of the good reviews on Amazon are paid and the ones where people have listed out issues are genuine. Please do not buy this, even if it is cheap. It won’t work. It is better to buy plastic clipping set instead of electrical sealing machine.
I’ve seen these ads so many times, and I was actually tempted to buy one too. The fact that it was labeled as a “hair straightener” is hilarious but also super sketchy. Do you think all brands of these portable sealers are the same, or did you come across any that seemed to work better? Also, what’s your go-to alternative for keeping snacks fresh during the rainy season?
Yeah, the whole hair straightener label was wild! It really made me wonder if all these portable sealers are just rebranded junk. I did look into other options, and while some have better reviews, most seem to have the same issues—either they don’t heat up properly or they barely seal anything. For keeping snacks fresh, I now just use airtight containers and plastic clips. They’re way more reliable and don’t cost much. Also, storing snacks with a bit of silica gel (like the ones you get in shoe boxes) helps keep moisture away.
