Ever since YouTube cooking has become popular, the use of salted butter has increased in my home. The only butter that I ever knew was Amul. But I have tried several others and I am sharing my review of them.
President Premium Butter (Salted) :
President Butter delights with its fresh aroma. Not just the aroma, but its exceptional spreadability stands out among its competitors. Whether on a plain slice of bread or a warm piece of toast, it effortlessly glides on with ease. I particularly appreciate the butter’s milky and creamy richness, and it’s worth noting that it doesn’t contain any added colors. Considering all these aspects, President Butter has easily become my top choice in the premium category.
Amul Butter Pasteurised:
I found Amul Butter to possess a deep yellow hue accompanied by a strong and fresh buttery scent. The butter has a highly rich and creamy texture, although it didn’t spread as smoothly on fresh bread compared to others. Although it slightly lacked in spreadability, its taste more than compensated for it. Amul butter offers a well-balanced taste, with just the right amount of salt to enhance the flavor of a simple toast. This characteristic made it stand out as my top pick for Value For Money.
Nandini Butter:
I left the Nandini butter out of the fridge for more than 2 hours, hoping it would soften, but it remained a thick block. Unfortunately, even at room temperature, it lacked the easy spreadability I expected. I noticed noticeable blobs of butter on my plain slice of bread. In terms of appearance, Nandini butter has a warm yellow hue and a mild milky aroma. The butter itself offers a rich and creamy flavor, but I found it slightly saltier than I prefer. This butter might appeal more to those who enjoy a slightly salty taste in their meals.
Gowardhan Butter:
I found the spreadability of the butter to be exceptionally good. There’s a slight oily texture in this butter, but it’s not too overpowering. However, I was a bit disappointed as it didn’t have the freshness I was hoping for. Gowardhan butter offers well-balanced salt levels and a delightful creamy flavor. However, it does leave a mild aftertaste that might not suit everyone’s preferences.
Patanjali Butter:
I appreciated the fact that Patanjali Butter has a clean list of ingredients. It’s crafted from cow milk and contains sendha namak, with no added colors or preservatives, as stated on the packaging. Due to the lower sodium content in sendha namak compared to common salt, this block of butter tends to have relatively lower salt levels. However, when I tried this butter on toast, I noticed a slight oiliness but found it lacking the creamy, rich butter flavor I anticipated. Compared to other options, it didn’t quite measure up in taste. Additionally, achieving the desired consistency for spreading took longer than expected.
Mother Dairy Butter:
The Mother Dairy Butter has a robust aroma and displays a pale yellow color. It spreads quite well, offering good spreadability. While it presents a milky creaminess, I found that it lacked freshness in taste. There’s a noticeable sour aftertaste accompanied by an undesired hint of acidity.
Verka Butter:
Verka butter is cheaper and boasts the lightest yellow hue among all the contenders. It emits the strongest, oily aroma. However, when it comes to spreadability, I found it to be the least efficient. I had to layer multiple applications until I achieved the desired quantity on the bread.
Final thoughts:
In my experience, no Indian household is fully equipped without a block of butter, whether it’s for paranthas, pancakes, pao bhaji, or dosas. It’s a cherished form of fat that can significantly influence the outcome of a dish. After numerous taste tests on both toasted and untoasted slices of bread, I personally selected President butter as my Premium Top Pick and Amul Butter as the top choice for Value For Money. Both brands delivered fresh, creamy, and delightful flavors. Additionally, I would also recommend Nandini Butter based on my experience.
Frankly speaking, I never knew there were so many brands that sell butter, as Amul has always been the go-to choice for our family for decades. Especially after Amul launched their garlic flavor variant, we have been switching between the Amul salted and garlic butter. It’s good to know about other brands too. Based on your recommendation, I would definitely try the President butter once to see for myself.
The issue is availability I guess. Whenever we think about butter, we think about Amul and never ever even go for other brand even if it is available. But yes, President Butter is definitely good, and you should try it.
