Has anyone here tried buying custom jewelry pieces from Instagram sellers? My mom came across some gorgeous pieces on a few pages while scrolling, and she’s really interested. The pieces are all in the ₹2,000-₹6,000 range, which seems reasonable, but since these sellers don’t have verification badges or high follower counts, I’m a bit skeptical.
I talked to them in the DMs, and they seem responsive, but they’re asking for online payment upfront before they ship the items. I didn’t notice any comments that looked suspicious or warned of fraud, but I still can’t shake the hesitation. Has anyone here had a positive experience buying from smaller jewelry accounts? How can I make sure it’s legit? Also, if anyone has tips for safely making these purchases, that would be helpful!

hey, I bought custom rings from insta before, and it turn out nice but ya, I always lil scared of paying first so I only go for ones that take cod or small advance only like 20% some seller do that u can ask them. also check if they post making process in stories like behind the scene that way u know its real n not scam if they never post work in progress only final pics then i feel its risky also see if they send u tracking after ship some don’t so i avoid them, but if they talk nice and show proofs u can try for one small piece first before a big order better safe.
That’s a good idea asking for partial advance instead of full payment! I will try bringing that up and see if they are open to it. Also, you are right about behind-the-scenes content. If they never show how they make the jewellery, it could be a red flag. When you ordered, how long did they take to deliver? Did they send tracking details or just tell you when it was shipped?
