Anyone comment on Pepperfry vs. Urban Ladder for furniture, wood quality?

I am looking at furniture in pepperfry, urban ladder, royaloak, insaraf websites. Liked some solid wood furniture from Urban Ladder. Anyone with personal experience on this?

  1. We had purchased some light weight furniture like side table and shoestand etc from pepperfry. Looks were almost same as picture. Material was very light and weak. Easily get broken and chipped with minor force.
This was good assuming we did not want to take it with us when moved house. Otherwise I would stay away from light material.
Heard bad things about Saraf Furnitures in Bangalore. Insaraf is same company.

  2. Urban Ladder is fraud. Nobody in their customer support replied when I asked them about legs of my table that are supposed to be thick logs but found to be thin pieces glued together. They are making furniture from waste wood and selling with premium price

  3. Pepperfry has been a highly disappointing experience for me. I strongly advise against using their services. It’s honestly one of the worst websites I’ve come across. I’ve been waiting for my product for nearly two months, and they keep changing the expected delivery date. Initially, it was supposed to be delivered on February 23rd, but now they’ve pushed it to March 19th. When I questioned them about this, they insist that it was always set for the 19th, which is misleading. I requested to cancel my order, but they flatly refused, stating a strict no-cancellation and no-return policy.

To make matters worse, I made the mistake of forgetting to apply a coupon code when I ordered an item. I asked if I could cancel the order so I could reorder with the coupon, but their response was unhelpful. It’s disheartening to see such poor customer service.

In light of my experience, I strongly urge everyone to avoid dealing with Pepperfry. Their practices appear dishonest, and they don’t seem to prioritize customer satisfaction. It’s best to steer clear of such unethical practices and support businesses that genuinely value their customers.

  4. For furniture you should always choose someone locally and fix with them. The online products will look good, but many do not function good. The local person, will be loyal to you and do the repairs too, if you request him

  5. Thanks, everyone. I did not realize there were so many comments here. An update: I purchased some furniture from Pepperfry and some from local furniture sellers. Dining Table with rustic design and a glass layer on top of wooden top: from local shop. They even added white stone decorations under the glass free of cost. Now they also agreed to fit some lighting inside that 🙂

Pepperfry for a cot made of MDF, not solid wood. The cot looked comfortable.

  6. I would suggest you look for local furniture shops. Exploring different shops helps in comparing the price, quality, and service of the seller. You can also verify the quality of the furniture piece before buying. Online furniture looks fancy, but there are several risks, such as poor quality, late delivery, damage during transit, and no return/ exchange.
