Top Toothpaste Brands for Sensitive Teeth

While we have several toothpaste brands in the market, there are still only a few brands that offer gentle toothpaste for treating dental issues such as toothache, sensitivity, and more. Dental issues can happen at any age and even young adults find struggling with toothache and sensitivity. My father also experienced sensitivity a few months ago and I started looking for a gentle toothpaste that would offer him some relief. As one of the most advertised toothpaste for sensitivity, my first choice was Sensodyne.

Sensodyne

Sensodyne is one of the popular and first toothpaste brands that addressed the issues of sensitivity. The paste does what it claims as it is quite gentle on the teeth. It successfully removes the stains and offers instant relief from sensitivity. My father did find some relief within initial uses only. The paste soothes the nerve inside the teeth preventing the pain signals that are triggered when you have something hot or cold. It has been a month or two and he has not complained about sensitivity since then.

I have heard positive reviews about the paste from other elders as well. Even for individuals who are not suffering from sensitivity but wish to switch to a gentle paste, Sensodyne can be a great choice!

Colgate Sensitive

Another brand that I tried was Colgate Sensitive. It claims to remove tartar, plaque, and protect against cavities. It contains potassium nitrate which is known for soothing the nerves. With regular use, one can find relief from sensitivity. You must brush your teeth twice daily to get 24 hour protection from sensitivity. It also protects the enamel which is beneficial in the long run.

Just like other Colgate pastes, it promotes white teeth. We used the paste only for a few days but it was not as gentle as the Sensodyne toothpaste.

Vicco Turmeric

Vicco is one of the oldest toothpaste brands in the market and is known for promoting dental health and helping with oral care. Though there is not a specific variant for sensitive teeth, toothpaste has herbal and natural ingredients which help in addressing all types of dental issues. It is said that Vicco toothpaste is useful for fighting sensitivity as well. There are other benefits as well such as fighting bad breath, bleeding gums, yellow teeth, and toothache. It is a one-stop solution for fighting and preventing all types of dental issues.

While I can’t pinpoint if Vicco helped particularly with sensitivity, it certainly promotes good oral health in the long run. Vicco is somewhere lost amongst the new fancy brands but it is still one of the best toothpastes available in the market. Herbal pastes are better than regular ones.

Himalaya Sensitive Toothpaste

Himalaya is yet another popular brand that is trusted by people for its effectiveness. The Himalaya toothpaste not only claims to offer relief from sensitive teeth but also helps with preventing gum bleeding and promoting strong gums. The cooling properties keep the mouth fresh for a long. The herbal formulation prevents sensitivity for a long time. The herbal ingredients help in preventing dental issues and promote good oral health with consistent use.

I have not used this particular toothpaste but have heard good reviews from people using it. Considering how good Himalaya brand products are, I am sure their toothpaste certainly has something good to offer.

My Verdict

While most toothpastes claim to remove tartar and plaque and offer a fresh feeling, sensitive toothpastes are meant to be gentle and offer relief from toothache and sensitivity. In my opinion, Sensodyne is the top choice for sensitive toothpaste. However, it should be used only by people suffering from sensitivity or any other dental issue. I used Sensodyne for a few days but could not feel the satisfaction as it lacked the fresh feel inside the mouth. Though I used a generous amount, I could not feel as fresh as I feel after using regular toothpaste. Maybe that is how it is formulated as gentle toothpaste is suitable for people suffering from dental issues.

  1. I have been using Sensodyne since a long time, but it didn’t have a major effect on sensitivity. But ever since I started wearing a night guard, and it’s been a game-changer for my sensitive teeth along with Sensodyne! I used to avoid things like gummy bears or jelly type items even ice-creams at times because they were so painful, but now I can eat them just fine. If someone has sensitive teeth, I would definitely recommend trying a night guard. It might help you too, especially if you’re grinding your teeth in your sleep without realizing it. Because I had that problem.
