While researching for a wet grinder for my sister, I realized wet grinders (the ones with stone rolling inside) can not be used for dry grinding. Also can not be used for small quantity such as chutney etc. So, why not a normal 750 Watt mixer grinder? Why do people use wet grinders? I’m wondering.
Wet grinders are heavy duty, for things like dosa batter etc. You can keep large quantities in it and set the timer to run for 30min. It will slowly grind with stone. Unlike regular grinders which have blades that cut the material.
Wet grinders grind the material with stone rollers very similar to traditional grinding by hand. The taste is much better and well mixed than a normal grinder with steel blades.
Yes, that is correct. The mixing is better due to stone grinding.
Wet grinders take a lot of time. In that 30 minutes I can grind 5 batches of batter or anything else with normal mixie.
Just note that the wet grinders usually require lower power consumption though they take longer. So it’s compensated.
And there is a timer you can set and go do other work. In case of normal mixer grinder you have to hold the jar the whole time.
Stone grinding makes food tasty. For large quantity of batter wet grinder makes it easy. Switch on once and let it run based on timer set.
I was wondering same, why use wet grinders when our normal mixer grinder can be used for both wet and dry grinding? I have a Philips Mixer Grinder that we have been using for almost 3 years now. It comes with three Jars in different sizes. We use all 3 of them for dry and wet grinding, and the results are impressive.
Wouldn’t it be so much hassle to have 2 different grinders for dry and wet grinding? The idea doesn’t appeal me but to each their own!
