Best and Affordable Aluminum Foils for Kitchen

Aluminum foil is an essential part of our kitchen as it helps in storing the food and keeping it warm for long. It also helps in packing food items while travelling and keeping them from spoiling. It ensures food is preserved properly and can also be used while baking and grilling. There are two types of aluminum foil- standard foil and heavy-duty foil. While the standard foil is most commonly used in our kitchen for storing sandwiches, chapatis, etc., it is prone to tears and rips. On the other hand, heavy-duty foils are sturdier and don’t tear that easily. Hence, they are used for cooking and grilling. In my opinion, these are the top aluminum foil brands in India that offer quality in a budget range.

Ezee

It has been a popular brand that is commonly found in kitchens. It is suitable for wrapping the food and covering the bowls and can also be used for grilling. It doesn’t spoil the flavours to cause any discolouration. The foil keeps the food fresh as compared to storing it in plastic containers. The food stays warm for hours. The food stays bacteria-free and non-toxic. Aluminum foil keeps the aroma and moisture of the food intact and harmful gases away from the food. For many family, it has been a go-to choice for several years. Ezee foils are available online on Amazon, Flipkart, Big Basket and Swiggy.

Freshwrapp

It is a superior-quality aluminum foil that we have used in our kitchen for over a decade. My mother has been packing our lunch boxes using Fresh wrapp foils. In my experience, it always keeps the food fresh and warm. Be it chapatis or sandwiches, everything remains of good quality and edible. There is no foul smell and the taste remains the same. The brand offers superior quality foil in an affordable price range. It is hands down a hygienic food packaging option. What makes them different is that the foil is eco-friendly and recyclable. You can buy two types of foil from the brand- standard and premium based on your specific needs.

Premier

Premier is another budget brand for aluminum foil which is a fairly good choice for your kitchen. It keeps the food warm, fresh and hygienic for a long time. The food remains safe and bacteria-free and the foil comes with a high-temperature sterilization feature. It is available in different pack sizes and you can buy Premier foil online from Big Basket, Swiggy, or Amazon.

Some Tips for Choosing the Right Aluminum Foil

Thickness

The choice of thickness depends on the use and personal preference. If you want to wrap and store food items or cover bowls to keep the food warm, a thinner alternative is a better choice as it is flexible and easy to wrap and fold. Foil with 0.005 mm would be a suitable choice. If you wish to grill the food or store it in the refrigerator, a thicker foil of around 0.009 mm would be better.

Size and Width

You can find aluminum foils in widths ranging from 12 to 18 inches. If you have a bigger tray for baking, it is better to get a 18-inch foil wrap so that you don’t need to overlap. Sometimes, bigger foils can lead to extra wastage. Hence, many people consider 12 to 14 inch to be the perfect size. They are convenient and easy on the pocket as well. As for size, you can pick any as there is no hard and fast rule. It all depends on your convenience and monthly budget as bigger the size, more the price!

Edges

Look for a serrated cutter on the box’s edge as it makes using the foil extremely easy. It ensures a straight and precise cut whenever you want to use the foil. It saves you from using scissors to cut the foil in the required size.

We have been using Freshwrapp and Ezee aluminum foils for decades now and they are both at par in terms of quality and affordability. Freshwrapp enjoys an edge over others for me and my mother as it offers the required thickness along with flexibility. The chapatis, parathas, and sandwiches remain warm for some time and it helps in storing the food well while travelling.

  1. I never dove deep into aluminum foils that much, but I would say that we recently stopped buying it. So my aunt suggested going for papers with silver foil on which poha is served in shops. Those are pretty good and effective. In my town, we can get 1 kg of those papers for just 80 rupees, and it easily lasts for three months. And that too with 5-6 papers being used daily. If you can find it at your place for cheap price, then it is definitely worth it.
